
Marissa is a registered psychologist who is committed to collaborating with her clients to improve their wellbeing. Marissa is an independent practitioner, available in the rooms of Your Choice Counselling at Indooroopilly, Brisbane.
Marissa has been registered as a psychologist since 2010 and has experience working with adults with mental health difficulties, such as impacts of trauma, depression and anxiety, as well as supporting people with complex mental health needs through challenging life circumstances. Marissa tailors her approach to the needs of individual clients and draws from multiple evidence-based frameworks, including as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
Marissa is warm and non-judgemental, yet pragmatic psychologist. As a solution focused practitioner, she enjoys helping her clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and develop skills to enhance their wellbeing.
Marissa has worked with individuals experiencing a diverse range of mental health and life challenges. In particular, with extensive experience working with individuals healing from trauma and complex trauma, she understands the intricacies involved for clients on this journey.
Marissa also has experience working within forensic settings and working with parents experiencing parenting challenges, including difficulties involving custody of children or contact with child protection agencies. She is sensitive to the significant difficulties individuals may experience in these contexts.
